To say that the GI Joe crew is locally (in)famous would be a blatant or even pathetic lie. In fact, the GI Joe thing is something we did not come up with ourselves, let alone we were aware of us being called like that until recently.
To make a long story short, the GI Joe thing is kinda joke. It was coined by some Limbo guys in xkombatx at the time. As the shortened versions of our names, Gio and Joa, were difficult to pronounce, at least for them, the Wolfpack simply did it in one breath: GI Joe.
